Can someone simplify this trigonometric expression for me? (sin(x) - csc(x)) / cos(x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Divide everything by cos seems to easier way: tan(x) - cot(x). I think there is a trig identity for this now

OpenStudy (alexwee123):

its not equal to tanx-cotx.....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Typo, meant: tan(x) - csc(x)sec(x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which is equal to -cot(x).

OpenStudy (alexwee123):

yep

OpenStudy (alexwee123):

wait no

OpenStudy (kainui):

cotx is not equal to cscxsecx in this universe.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, I mean the whole expression is equal to - cot(x) :-(

OpenStudy (alexwee123):

lol i made mistake :D

OpenStudy (blockcolder):

@alexwee123 You're lacking a sin(x), so it really should be -cot(x).

OpenStudy (alexwee123):

forgot the sinx sorry :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I put in -cot(x), and it was wrong.. -_-
