Two species of herbivores compete for resource in a grassland. In general, species A is better at utilizing the resource and is more abundant than species B. A predator is introduced that has no preference for the species. what can happen to either of the species(A &B)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmm. Let's say we start with 80 of species A and 20 of species B. If the predator indiscriminately preys on both species, so that only 10 total herbivores survive, what are the possible outcomes for species A and B? Are they equally likely to persist, or will one species be more likely to become extinct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think so that their relative abundance can change in either direction.....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, that is true for any short time interval. Bit we know species A is better at resource usage than species B, so as long as both species are present, over time we expect there would be more species A than B. The only way that would change is if one or both species became extinct.

Thank you sir.....i will come up with more regular questions....
