Help with romeo and Juliet! PLEASE!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

• Elizabethan views of the theater:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did Shakespeare try to please the audience?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You just need to know how he attempted to please the audience?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Critics believed that Shakesphere entertained the crowd by praising the monarchy but in reality he was bashing it. So it is somewhat ironic how he pleased the crowd in a way.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you need more help this site could greatly be of assisstance I used it when I was studying Romeo and Juliet http://www.sparknotes.com/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

• Why Shakespeare’s language can be tricky

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, he provided a passionate love story of two people who loved each other, but because of the monarchy they could not be together. It was kind of a blow to the whole "ruling" because they both ended up dying because of the ruling.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is correct! :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I honestly don't think his language is tricky. It's basically old English. If you use "Writers Context" you can figure out what his words mean. "Doth thou betray me?" Putting the words in context would mean "Are you betraying me?" I guess it could be confusing in the fact that Doth would translate into "does" and since thou would mean "you" it would technically translate into "Does you betray me"

Forgive me, but translating old english would be similar to listening to a REALLY ghetto person speak.
