Graph y=log(base2)(x+3) +1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[y=\log_{2}(x+3) +1 \]

OpenStudy (aravindg):

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

(x+3) represents shift 3 to the left "+1" represents shift 1 up in other word the asymptote will be at x=-3 instead of y-axis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm unclear as to what the log base 2 is different from the log base 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the translation & shifting up is clear

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

as far as the graph, they look the same except one will have slightly a steeper slope

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

also the intercepts will be different

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right right right i didn't ask that!!! LOL embarrassing...

OpenStudy (aravindg):

i think i gave the graph to u

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

haha no problem @AravindG , the asymptote is wrong , i think you may have copied it wrong

OpenStudy (aravindg):

hmm thats what wolf gives http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=y%3Dlog%28base2%29%28%28x%2B3%29+%2B1%29

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm sorry AravindG i wasn't looking for a picture of the graph exactly I was looking on how to begin, but thank you :-)

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=y%3Dlog%28base2%29%28x%2B3%29%2B1 parenthesis were in wrong place...added the 1 inside the log function
