All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes, to make it possible. T. E. Lawrence, "The Seven Pillars of Wisdom"

Dr. King uses severall appeals in his "I have a dream" speech. The first appeal is hasty generalization, when he says that "all men are created equal." He is generalizing all men, who fought to be individuals. The second appeal he uses is counterargument, when he says that "america has not made good on the unpaid check." He is going against the argument that we have to pay the government, which so many blacks and whites fought to avoid. This is how Dr. King uses appeals in his speech.
