A movie store sells DVDs for $15 each. The function C(d) = 15d relates the total cost of movies to the number purchased d. continous data?

@friedch1cken

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't really understand the problem lol Determine whether the function rule models discrete or continuous data.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, to be honest, I had no idea what discrete or continuous data was, but I just googled it. I found this awesome webpage explaining it: http://www.mathsisfun.com/data/data-discrete-continuous.html And so, it sounds like it's discrete data because you can't purchase 1/2 a movie or 1/4 of a movie.. Does that make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, great!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the other question is this one the length of a field in yards is a function f(n) of the length n in feet. Write a function rule for this situation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i wish my google worked lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

F(n)=n/3 3 feet equals one yard so divide n (the number of feet) by three to obtain the number of yards.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and then their is this one Find the constant of variation k for the direct variation. 4x=-6y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do i divide by 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

on both sides?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh geez I haven't learned constant of variation for a while.. I could google it and see what I can find, but I would recommend reposting that question because you might get an answer quicker

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay lol
