For example can anyone show me how this looks?Passing through (6,2) with x-intercept 3. write an equation for the line slope-intercept form

OpenStudy (pfenn1):

The x-intercept is the point wher the line crosses the x-axis, or where y = 0. So this is exactly like finding a line that passes through two points....(3, 0) and (6, 2). Do you know how to find this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

think so

OpenStudy (pfenn1):

ask if you have any more questions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

You'll want to start with point slope form with the points (6, 2) and (3, 0)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for that part i get 2/3 correct

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

The slope should be 3/2 not 2/3.

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

I'm sorry :( I just realized I was terribly terribly wrong. You are correct that the slope should be 2/3. This sets up the relation \[y-0={2 \over 3}(x-3)\]Solving this, we get that \[y={2 \over 3}x-2\]
