OpenStudy (brinazarski):

If f(x) = x + 3 and g(x) = (x^2 - 9)/(x - 3), which of the following statements are true about the graphs of f and g in the xy-plane? I. The graphs are exactly the same. II. The graphs are the same except when . III. The graphs have an infinite number of points in common.

OpenStudy (brinazarski):

I got only II.

OpenStudy (brinazarski):

Btw, for II *except when x = 3

OpenStudy (brinazarski):

It can't be I cuz II is true. However, wouldn't that mean III is false as well, since they don't have that one point in common?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It not I because as you stated x=3 is not allowed for II. I would think they could have infinite points in common since the two lines go out to infinity. Are you only allowed one choice?

OpenStudy (brinazarski):

I thought the answer was II alone, but the answer key said II and III. I understand how they go out to infinity, but wouldn't that one point make it not infinite...?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No.

OpenStudy (brinazarski):

Hmm... okay then. Thank you!
