Would graphing the equation "y=-2x^2+6" (x^2 is x to the second power or x squared) be the same as graphing "y=-2x+6"? If not, could you explain how this equation is graphed? Thanks!

Simply put, one is a straight line and the other is a curve.

Thank you for your reply. The thing is, I have to graph the equation "y=-2x^2+6", and I have no idea how. So I was wondering if it would be the same as graphing "y=-2x+6". So I really just need to know how to graph x squared.

OpenStudy (kymber):

You just square the x value :p

Are you studying parabolas in your class?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks @kymber! and no I'm not @Mertsj

So you get it now? Remember to square it and theeeen multiply by negative two! :D
