Picture. How do I solve this with steps?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can only add fractions if you have a common denominator. so what would be the least common denom?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Dont know what that means.l

OpenStudy (pfenn1):

Or you could multiply both sides of the equation by 5.

1/2 + 1/3 are two totally different fractions. So you must convert the denomniators into one denominator for both fractions. In my example, you could mutiply 1/2*3/3 and you will get 3/6. and for 1/3 multiply by 2/2 and you get 2/6. now since they now have the same denoms, just add the numerators and keep 6 as the denom and you get 2/6 + 3/6=5/6. can you now do the problem?
