y+3/2y + 5/y-1=1/2

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

Hint: multiply every term of your equation by 2y

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

if you wanna know why 2y, you can check out this tutorial i once made on LCM http://openstudy.com/users/lgbasallote#/updates/4f9f93dae4b01d279f25db37

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what abut the y-1?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

oh it's over y-1? i thought the 1 was a whole number...then the LCM is 2y(y-1) sorry bout that

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

just making sure \(\Large \frac{3}{2y} + \frac{5}{y-1} = \frac{1}{2}\) that's the problem right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y+3 over 2y, but the rest is right

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

oh yeah..sorry...well the LCM is right so we multiply by 2y(y-1) \((y+3)(y-1) + 5(2y) = 1(y)(y-1)\) this will be our resulting equation won't it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, thank you!
