Solve the inequality 7(x - 2) < -5. x < 9/7 x > 9/7 x < -9/7 x > -9/7

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

ideas ?

OpenStudy (kira_yamato):

\[7(x - 2) < -5\] \[x - 2 < -\frac{5}{7}\] \[x < 1\frac{2}{7}\]

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

Kira - why not 7x-14<-5 7x<9 x<9/7 - i think hence is more easy - opinion ?

Parth (parthkohli):

\(\Large \color{blue}{x - 2 < {-5 \over 7} }\) \(\Large \color{blue}{x < {-5 \over 7} + 2 }\) \(\Large \color{blue}{x < {-5 \over 7} + {14 \over 7} }\) \(\Large \color{blue}{x < {9 \over 7} }\) Can you solve the questions that are left? This one was tough so I did it for you.

OpenStudy (kira_yamato):

I think it's the same... So yeah... Because I prefer to remove coefficient of x then work with it.
