Please explain? Is the equation an example of growth or decay? y = 5(6.8)x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

check to see that \(6.8>1\) so growth. if \(b>1\) then \(b^x\) indicates growth

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What Is b? Im horrible at Algebra

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b is the "base" so for example if you have \(5\times 6.8^x\) then the base is \(6.8\) the number being raised to a power

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh! And if its bigger then 1, Its a Growth?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you have \(200\times (.98)^x\) the base would be \(.98\) and that would be an example of decay because \(.98<1\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes if the base is bigger than one it is growth

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay! Thanks so much! :D
