Why was Queen Elizabeth's reign referred to as the golden age?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, it definitely inspired national pride. There was international expansion and a naval triumph over the Spanish in 1588 (defeat of Spanish Armada). Hm, there was a good amount of poetry, music, and literature being put into the system as well. This is part of the definition of a Golden Age when you consider the creation of new ideas or technologies. It was also a time of internal peace, which all Golden Ages are. They had a pretty centralized and effective government during her reign, too. I would say those examples alone are sufficient evidence of a Golden Age.

it is considered the golden age because of so much of its prosperous things occurring like claiming land abroad in North America and colonizing.
