<θ is in standard position and 0≤θ<2pi. if the trigonometric ratio of cosθ=-1/2, i know that it would be on either quadrant II or III... how would i know which quadrant it would be on, exactly?

It could very well be on both. |dw:1336540796222:dw| |dw:1336540761898:dw| With just the ratio, it can be either of those two. You can't really tell, unless you actually have the angle.
