what are the restrictions for secx-sinxtanx=cosx ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There will be a restriction when some angle makes me divide by 0. Sin = 0/H. Since the hypotenuse for a right triangle is always positive, this has no restrictions. Cos = A/H. Same situation. Tan = 0/A What angles make the adjacent side 0? These angles will be restricted. Sec = H/A This gives the same restrictions as the last. If you need help picturing it, here's the unit circle. |dw:1336631176560:dw|

I dont understand how smooth math explained it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yo, gurl. What's tan(pi/2)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

doesnt work?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Soright.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so thats just the answer .. tan cannot equal pi/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Any idea why? Maybe you can think of a situation where you'd want to take tangent of that angle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont think im following you :\

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why is there no answer for tan(pi/2)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

asymptote at pi/2 ?
