Can someone show me the steps to doing this one please? Not just the answer but how you got to the answer. I can figure the answer out pretty easy but if I want credit I have to show the steps, that part I struggle with a lot. Thanks Completely factor the following expression: 4a2 – 12ab + 9b2

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

9x4 = 36 .. using factors of 36,,you have to form -12..which is easy to see.. split -12 as (-6ab) + (-6ab) ..now you can take common and factorize..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you multiply the 9 and 4 then factorize the -12?

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

4a^2 -12ab + 9b^2 = 4a^2 - 6ab - 6ab + 9b^2 = 2a(2a-3b) -3b(2a - 3b)=(2a-3b)(2a-3b) = (2a-3b)^2

Ah, I see it now. Thanks :)
