why amplitude become zero in a standing wave?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know that standing wave nt travel and has leastone point bt how it possible?

OpenStudy (aravindg):

u seee in standing waves there are both positions of 0 amplitude and max amplitude 0 amplitude is called node max amplitude is called antinode hope that was helpful

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a standing wave is produced when two waves of the same amplitude superimpose each other. like when a wave is reflected off from a boundary. The points where there amplitude cancels out each other causes the formation of nodes. They appear to vibrate in segments, nodes and anti nodes and the fact that these vibrations are made up of traveling waves is not apparent so they seen stationary.
