in SI units, whats the volume of dirt it would take to fill a hole thats roughly a rectengular prism. measuring 2ft. by 6ft. by 3ft.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first convert ft to mt

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1 foot = 0.3048 meters

OpenStudy (anonymous):

should now be a V of prism .609m by 1.828m by .9144m

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1.0179 m cuped

OpenStudy (anonymous):

.......

OpenStudy (stormfire1):

1 ft = 0.3048m I'd start by converting the measurements to meters so they are in SI units from the start. The volume of a prism is \[V_{prism}=base * height * length\] So you end up with: \[V_{rectprism}=(0.6096m)(1.8288m)(0.9144m)=1.019...m^3\]So I concur with what tim just posted ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

SI units just means meters instead of feet in your case

OpenStudy (anonymous):

before you start any problem in physics unless other wise stated convert everything to SI units FIrst step all the time.
