8 monomial binomail not a polynomail

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know its not trinomail

OpenStudy (kymber):

There's only one, so..?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

moomail?

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

moNomial. ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol sorry

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

mono means 1. bi means 2 tri means 3.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow that helps me alot thank you khan

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

\[\Huge \text{No Problem ^_~}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what if its over 3 though

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

8/3 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i mean like over 3 different number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Polynomial

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont have a option for polynomail

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

sorry i dont get it. :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6x + 2y

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

8/3 = a monomial.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats the problem

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Ok, what do you think? how many types of variables are there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no if there are more than three it is just a polynomial

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think theres 4

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

variables = s,t, x, antything.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so would numbers be variables?

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

BUT! here the variable is with particular number. so we will count that as single thing. 6x + 2y (6x) = single thing (2y) = single thing.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok so thats just 2 varibales then

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Yes sir.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would 8 be not a polynomial since there are no variables?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if i could give you more medals i would

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

It's a monomial. since it's only a single term.

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

thanks for the medals.

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

if you want i can give you some more examples?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this helps alot cause i have one week left of 8th grade and my math isnt the best

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Monomial, x, y, 8, 2x, 9a, 0, Binomial, x+y, 2x+x+y p+q 2+2+r

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Trinomial, a+b+c 2a+4r+s 1+2+x+z
