need help with ambiguous law of sine Hw question: Use ambiguous law of sine to solve the triangle given that a=30 b=25 c=22

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm really confused on how to solve for these types of questions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is not law of sines if all the sides are given... you need to use the law of cosines...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u explain what ambiguous law of sines is for? i'm confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the ambiguous case in the law of sine can occur when two sides are given AND an angle that is not between the two sides is also given...

in the drawing, angle A is given side c is given and side a is given. Do you see that these given conditions can determine two different triangles? This is why they call it ambiguous.
