Explain why the inverse y=3^2 of is not a square root function

3^2 is a constant term, unlike x^2 which is variable. So when you take the inverse of 9 (remember, 3^2 is just 9!) you're just making it 1/9 instead of 9/1 like any other number would be, you just don't normally look at the 1.
