A cosine angle in the second quadrant of a graph has a negative ratio right? -x/h (h representing hypotenuse)

Directrix (directrix):

Yes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Directrix why is Hypotenuse always positive?

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

Yes (-,+), and cos=opp/hyp

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

@Leaper , hyp=sqrt(x^2+y^2)

Directrix (directrix):

@Leaper The hypotenuse is the radius of the circle on which the point (x,y) lies. While the points with coordinates (x,y) take on the signs of the quadrants in which they lie, the hypotenuse which is the radius of the circle remains positive. The radius is the distance from the center of the circle (0,0) on the standard unit circle and must be postive.
