how many significant figures in 1100 ?
4 4 digits with non-zero digit for the first one.
@ callisto m confused that if we take 1.1 * 10^3 then we have 2 significant digits
lol nope... you haven't counted 10^3 ...
1x10^3 -> 1000 -> 4 sig. digits 1.1 x 10^3 -> 1100 -> 4 sig. digits
@ Callisto 10^3 is not counted according to rule : a * 10^b , here b is an integer not considered as significant while a is considered as significant
No... I mean...1 x 10^3 = 1000 <- 4 digits (I called it valid digit), so 4 significant digits
Poor me... My fault...
but in that video and other parts , in these type of questions significant digits are only calculated through scientific notations : for example : 5.70 m = 570.0 cm = 5700 mm but in 5.70 m there are three significant digits while in 570.0 cm there are 4 and in 5700 mm there are 4
Right, don't listen to me... Forget what I've said (my biggest mistakes!!!) It's 2
According to pruple math, only 1 and 1 are 'interesting', the 2 '0's behind are not. So, only 2 sig. digits http://www.purplemath.com/modules/rounding2.htm

I'm very sorry!!!!! Forgive me please :(
but m still sonfused , how can it be 2 , 1.1 * 10^3 have 2 sig. digits but 1.10 * 10^3 has 2 sig . digits no sorry needed callisto , u gave me ur time for this questions thanks a lot , but what about the above doubt ?
hey thanks for that link , my doubt is clear now . Have a great day callisto .Thanks a lot again and again
