how do you know whether to use a [ or a ( when your solving inequalities and putting them on a number line?

there are 2 basics an open circle on the number lin means don't include the number and is used for less than or greater than a closed circle means include the number and is used for greater than or equal to or less than or equal to.

yeah but its giving me mulitiple choice answers and they have either brackets or parethesis and i dont know which one to use :/

rounded brackets are the open interval > or < e.g -5< x< -3 (-5, -3) i and square are []<= or >=
