is 2x^2 -9x +15 factorable

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Multiply the first coefficient by the last term: 2*15 = 30 Now find two numbers that multiply to 30 and add to -9 Can you find two such numbers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not so sure about this one. :/ sorry i couldn't help.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If the discriminant is negative, there are no real roots. The discriminant is \(b^2-4ac\). In this case the discriminant is -39, so there are no real roots.

OpenStudy (precal):

no, it is prime. You can always look at the graph of the function. If it crosses the x axis or touches the x axis you can factor it. This one is no where near the x axis

thank you!

OpenStudy (precal):

|dw:1337295979054:dw| you can factor these

OpenStudy (precal):

|dw:1337296062911:dw| you can not factor these
