how do eagles protect themselves from predators?

I would think that they're safe from most airborne predators because of their size, and since they don't spend much time on the ground, that should help keep them safe from large earthbound predators. They are, however, predators that try to steal their chicks. I've seen eagles protect their nest from crows, and they remained seated on the nest but used their beaks to keep the crows from getting too close.
