OpenStudy (anonymous):

If the point (-18,-3) is on the graph of y=q(x), what point must be on the graph of y=5q(x)+8

OpenStudy (accessdenied):

We only know that (-18, -3) works in q(x). So, what's the only x-value we can use for a defined q(x) value?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(18 , 3) ?

OpenStudy (accessdenied):

No... we will have the same x-value as the defined point for q(x). (-18, y). We then insert the value of q(x) when x=-18, and evaluate for the y-value.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so y = 5q(-18) + 8

OpenStudy (accessdenied):

Yeah.

OpenStudy (accessdenied):

We can then substitute in the value of q(x) when x=-18 that we were given originally, and that should give us the actual number.
