4x/3 - (x-1)/2 = 1

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

multiply every term by 6 \[\frac{6\times4x}{3}-\frac{6\times(x -1)}{2} = 6\] then cancelling common factors gives \[8x -3x + 3 =6 \] 5x = 3 x = 5/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for the \[\left(\begin{matrix}x-1 \\ 2\end{matrix}\right)\] isnt it supposed to be 3x-3?

OpenStudy (amorfide):

Rubie it would be but there is a double negative which makes it a positive

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but 6/2 is 3 and 3 is a tripe so it should be negative again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*triple

@Rubie, @campbell_st is correct. From basic mathematics, -2 x -2 = 4 -2 x 2 = -4 -2 + -2 = -4 -2 + 2 = 0 2 - (-2) = 4 One thing you should remember is that, negative negative always evaluates to positive. Hence \[\frac{-6x + 6}{2}\] So 2 divides -6x = -3x and 2 divides 6 = 3 That's why you see -3x + 3

ahhhh okai thank you all of youu
