Which gives better suit a large load, Hydraulic or Pneumatic? Why?
suited*
Hydraulics - higher operating pressures which equates to more force per unit area. To back that answer up, you don't see any pneumatic cranes erecting buildings or lifting cruise ships.
:)
is it more reliable than the pneumatic?
or?
Pneumatics are much more reliable than hydraulics.
Well * in my experience * (many years), penumatic systems seem to be a lot more prone to problems (leaks primarily) than hydraulic systems. I'd take a hydraulic system over a pneumatic one any day :)
Pneumatic systems are usually employed where a certain amount of give is needed, or where loss of fluid would be a big problem. Hydraulics systems are used when huge pressure is needed to move something. In my OWN experience (Biomedical Engineer) pneumatics are my go to for bodily devices.
My background is in mechanical and electrical engineering...and we rarely use pneumatics any more. I can see why the medical field would still use them though...makes more sense.
2 guys from different backgrounds! Engineers will never agree on something! Hah! :)
:)
Just thinking...I would probably be very upset if a dentist spilled hydraulic oil all down my throat :P
