a Salad dressing recipe calls for3/4 cups of oil to make 1 1/3 of salad dressing. To serve a crowd, fran needs 6 cups of salad dressing. how much oil will she need to make 6 cups of salad dressing?

OpenStudy (pfenn1):

You can calculate this with ratios. You want the ratio of the number of cups of oil to the cups of salad dressing to be the same no matter how much salad dressing you are making.

i dont understand is what i mean.

OpenStudy (pfenn1):

The ratio would be the number of cups of oil over the number of cups of salad dressing. This ratio must be the same regardless of how much salad dressing you want to make. So the ratio of oil to dressing when making 1 1/3 cups dressing must equal the ratio of oil to dressing when making 6 cups dressing.
