Another differentiability problem:)

OpenStudy (maheshmeghwal9):

If \[f(x)=a^x\] is a differentiable function. then why is it truly differentiable for only "a>0".

OpenStudy (maheshmeghwal9):

@apoorvk plz help:)

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

for a negative no, when 'x' changes form odd to even, the function switches from negative to positive rapidly. - so it has a lot of sharp points - hence it's not differentiable.

OpenStudy (maheshmeghwal9):

K! thanx.

OpenStudy (chaise):

d/dx of a^x is equal to a^x log(a) which is another general rule....

OpenStudy (maheshmeghwal9):

Thanx to u too.
