why arnt there cures for genetic disorders
I think it's because Genetics Is still a very new and complicated field.
There are "treatments", but since the origin of the disorders are coded into the genes of the individual, there is no feasible way to alter the affected cells. "Gene therapy", which seeks to replace faulty cells with normal or healthy versions, is only now beginning to yield results. Because tampering with genetic material can have unintended or unforeseen consequences, the use of such techniques is strictly controlled and reviewed.
Pratika gave a good answer - one of the problems of Gene Therapy is delivery of the good gene to the affected cells. Hence retinal disease is a good target because vector can be delivered via injection: a condition called Leber's Congenital Amaurosis was treated using a vector carrying the RPE65 gene.
Pratika, When you copy and paste your answer from somewhere else on the web, cite it by posting a link to it also. Otherwise you present someone else's work as your own and take credit for it. because scientific knowledge has not advanced to that level.
