What biological macromolecule is made up of monomers like the one shown below? Fat Carbohydrate Protein Nucleic acid
That Is The Diagram Thing !
Monomers are made up of small molecules which join together to make polymers...
The monomers of nucleic acids are nucleotides. Of polysaccharides: monosaccharides. Of polypeptides (the chains that make up proteins): amino acids. Lipids are macromolecules, but are not polymers, so they do not have monomers.
So What Does This Mean ?
It means that it is a protien. DO you understand why?
Because The Others Don't Have monomers?
Well kind of.
Okay..... So Then Can You Explain It Better ?
Lipids are macromolecules, but are not polymers, so they do not have monomers. A monomer is a molecule that can be bonded to other identical molecules to form a polymer. A polymer is a substance that has a molecular structure built up chiefly or completely from a large number of similar units bonded together.
Oh Okay Thank You ! (: You Are A BIG Help !
No problem, and also to add A lipid is any of a class of organic compounds that are fatty acids or their derivatives and are insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents.
The molecule shown in the diagram is a sugar so I think the polymer is a carbohydrate. Polysaccharide is another way of putting it.
Thank You !
Thats true, but it is asking for the biological macromolecule that is made up of monomers
Mhmmmm .
@britneyspears hey when you get time I need help with this question.
