OpenStudy (amistre64):

i spose i should sit there and explain it all out to myself then ....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i need an explanation please :(

OpenStudy (amistre64):

apparently you dont if you just leave ... is there a reason you just up and left while i was trying to help you out?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes because I i figured it out! :) so i closed the session but this is really hard and I would love your help :( if you would like to give me some of your kowledge it would be greatly appreciated .

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what answer did you get for the square one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4,2

OpenStudy (amistre64):

me too, so i spose its right :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

names are similar objects are similar, which means they correspond point for point

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do u understand this one?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

PQRS UVWX as such, we want to compare points lengths and positions for this thing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay

OpenStudy (amistre64):

whats the distance from p to q?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

UMMMM

OpenStudy (anonymous):

IM GRAPHING IT.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the ys are the same so this is just a verical line tat measures for -2 to -5 im sure you can count the distance between that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-3?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

lets say 3 since the distance is what we are after and not direction so much lets compare that to the distance between u and v another vertical line from 7 to -2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OKAY. IM TRYING TO STAY WITH YOU BUT I REALLY REALLY AM SLOW IN MATH . im like a retard. LOL but im trying okay so...what?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

similar shapes differ by a scaled factor, and once we know that factor we can measure to the point we need we have a length of 3 and we need to know the length of this other piece that goes from 7 to -2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

IS IT GOING TO BE 10?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9

OpenStudy (amistre64):

close, lets try 9 :) 3s = 9 when s=3 so we have a scaled factor of 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok cool :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how do we sum this up?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

im working on it ... we need to determine how to move to get from P to S

OpenStudy (amistre64):

P(-5, 7) S(-8, 3) down by 3 and left by 4 moves us from P to S we know we need to multiply by 3 so lets do that now 3*3 = 9 4*3 = 12 this is how we move from U to get to X, down by 9 and left by 12 U = (-2, -1) -9 -12 ------- x = (-11,-13)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OMG I GET IT!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i hope so ;) good luck
