RATIOS AND PROPORTIONS: if cans of tuna cost 6/$4.00, how much does one can cost? how much do 10 cans cost?

Parth (parthkohli):

1) Find the cost of one can of tuna to get the unit value. 2) Multiply the unit value by 10 to get the value of 10 cans.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so for the first part of the question if it is 6 cans of tuna for $4.00. you just divide the amount of cans by the cost.

Parth (parthkohli):

@child-of-the-sea Nice work, let the asker do the rest :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my answer was 1.5 now do i times 10 by 1.5

Parth (parthkohli):

Unit value is \(\Large{4 \over 6}\). Multiply that by 10 to get the value of ten cans.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

careful here price per can per means divided by, so price per can is \(\frac{\text{number of dollars}}{\text{number of cans}}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you divided upside down, so rather than computing the price per can you computed how many cans can you buy for a dollar
