I don't understand how to do problems like these :'(

OpenStudy (kymber):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

bears...or 42 im unsure which

OpenStudy (kymber):

BLEEEEEEEEH

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not helping?

OpenStudy (experimentx):

\[ \sin 50 = 100/x\] find x using calculator

OpenStudy (kymber):

Can you explain, though!!?

OpenStudy (experimentx):

\[ \sin \theta = p/h\] the question is asking you to find h ... and also note this is a right angled triangle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

trig ratios is what you need to know for these

OpenStudy (anonymous):

btw it is not sine in this case but tangent i think

OpenStudy (kymber):

I know the trig ratios, SOH CAH TOA

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh no, it is sine my fault!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

should have known better. do you know the trig ratios for a triangle?

OpenStudy (kymber):

Is it not SOH CAH TOA?!?!!?!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1337707416006:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so for the angle given , lets call it \(x\) in terms of \(a, b, c\) can you say what \[\sin(x)\] is? you are right, you can use soh cah toa if you know what they mean

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so in your picture, you are trying to find the hypotenuse \(h\) so you know from "SOH" that the sine of 50 is the opposite over the hypotenuse, or \[\sin(50)=\frac{100}{h}\] and then you solve for \(h\) via \[h=\frac{100}{\sin(50)}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

got that or still confusing?

OpenStudy (kymber):

Uuh, I think I got itt, thanks a bunch for helping meee! :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yw we can try another if you like

OpenStudy (kymber):

That's okaay, I'm prettyy sure I got it! c;
