For 2x – 3y = –7, when x = 4, What is the value of y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2(4)-3y=-7 (Plug in your x value and solve for y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you're stuck let me know

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah would i takesomething from both sides of the equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah so you want to get y alone so anything thats not y on the left get it away for y :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So id say start with the 2x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay i have 8-3y=7 what know

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you get rid of the 8 by subtracting it from both sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you have -3y=-15 and then you divide both sides by -3 to get rid of the -3
