6* 8^(x+1) = 2^x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

take ln of both sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know that but i could do anything after taking the ln

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well you might wanna use change of base formula to get the bases to same base

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

so there is 6 time 8 on exponent ... ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

or what is 6 there ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is just 6 times 8 exponent of x+1

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

can you writing 8 like power of 2 , 2 on exponent ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Easier way: manipulate it a bit first.\[ 6\cdot8^{x+1}=2^x\\ 6\cdot8\cdot8^x=2^x\\ 48\cdot2^{3x}=2^x\\ 48=\frac{2^x}{2^{3x}}\\ 48=2^{-2x}\\ -2x=\log_248 \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can finish it from there, right @Williamskates ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

ok but where is 2^x from numerator ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jhonyy9 i dont know what are you taking about dude

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

ok i see it now ,is right

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

good luck bye
