Why is Einsteins e=mc2 equatio used
@quarkine
it is the mathematical form for the fact that mass can be converted to enegy...the same principle that was used to make bombs.it is widely used but heavily in nuclear physics...
well...then if a mass of 0.1g of radium is allowed to decay, does it mean energy equivalent to = 0.1*(3*10^8ms^-1) is released?
that would be a biiiiiigggggg value
yeah exactly!!...that is why a small bomb is able to cause such a huge destruction. i don't think that spontaneous decay is accompanied by much mass-energy conversion.but fission does have significant conversion and hence is explosive..
oh alright..so what does particle physics deal with this equation
Einstein was awesome
well particle physics is very much overlaping with nuclear physics..so they must be both using this equation very much..but i dont know exactly how much it is used in particle physics...
