A line passes through the point (-2, 4) and originally has the equation 5x + 2y = 3.. is the answer for the equation of the perpendicular line y = 2/5x - 24/5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

put the equations in ax+by form and take dot product if it =0 then they are perpendicular I htink

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think the constant wouldn't matter since it just shifts the graph up and down and it wouldn't effer if it is perpendicular or not.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5x+2y dot 5*y-2*x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but you can see they are the same they are 2 parallel lines therefore not perpendicular

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh I missunderstood the q I thought they meant are the 2 equations given perpendicular :P
