PLEASE!! HELP ME PLEASE!! I ASKED THIS QUESTION A BILLION HOURS AGO!!!!!! Can someone please explain the poem ' IN Memoriam (Easter,1915) ' by Edward Thomas?
This is a short poem of reflection: the presence of flowers in a wood prompt mourning for a richer and happier world, lost forever because of the war.
You are very helpful @brandyberg. @Myk, i believe the poem is remembering the promise of a richer and happier world. these symbolise the hope for the future, but it has been lost forever because of the war that occurred soon after. The war would have terrorised the country, and therefore torn apart the hope for a future. It would have also torn apart the flowers, the symbol for this rich and happy world. I am only going off what @brandyberg said, but also my own opinion as I haven't actually read the poem before - only inferring. Hope this helps!
it's a pretty interesting poem
