Which stage is the dominant stage in gymnosperms?

sporophyte stage.

The dominate stage in gymnosperms is the "sporophyte stage". Plants such as vascular plants, which are non-flowering, which can reproduce by cones, would be an example of the gymnosperm. These non-flowering vascular plants will reproduce sexually. I know that a few examples can be either pine trees and/or spruce trees. Their seeds will be found in the cones, which will come in two types: smaller male pollen cones & larger female seed cones. The pollen from the male cone will float in the wind, to then fertilize the female seed cones. ***Just a reminder: (If sporophyte is the dominate stage --> The gymnosperm uses cones to disperse the pollen-->They have separate male and female gametophytes --> Gametophytes grow within the sporophyte --> They do not have flagellated male gametes --> They do not release spores in the environment) Then it's a gymnosperm! Hope that helps! n_n
