find the domain of the function
@dumbcow
please show me how you work it out!!
domain is greater than 1 but not 4
thats it, thats the final answer?
you mean greater than 1 less than 4?
no. greater than one except 4
thats the answer?
yeah
thanks, mind if i ask you one more?
set denominator equal to 0 --> x^2 -2x = 0 --> x(x-2) = 0 these give you the domain restrictions for this function
so it would be 0?
also, could you check out that previous question, i dont think his answer is correct, thank you :)
@dumbcow
no he is correct... s-4 = 0 s = 4 s-1 >= 0 s >= 1 therefore domain is s>= 1 and s not equal 4
you have to solve for x --> x(x-2) = 0 --> x =0 and x-2=0 --> x=0 and x = 2 therefore domain is x is not equal to 0 or 2
ohhh i get it now! :) thanks. hey can you help me with this last one?
evaluate the function at the specified values of the independent variable and simplify
just plug in the input in the appropriate function based on the domain. if input value is less than or equal to 1, use top function if input is greater than 1, use bottom function
can you show me step by step, im a visual person
haha no that would basically give you the answer wouldn't it
here you go...a visual |dw:1337878660701:dw|
