What is the missing number in this series? 987, 251, 369,872,513, ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think the missing number should be 69X. the last 2 digits for the 1st number in the series are the 1st 2 digits of the 4th number in the series, the last 2 digits for the 2nd number in the series are the 1st 2 digits of the 5th number in the series. and so on.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's 698

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha I guess so if you take the series as a cycle which will repeat 987,251... again.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep i think so :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thankyou! Will you help me with another one? What is the missing number in this series? 53472 2435, 342, ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u get 2435 by removing 2nd digit from last nd writing the number in reverse....nd 342 by removing 1 digit from last....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so for the next one which number do i remove?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i thnk the next number shud be 243....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the options given for the answers are a) 23 b) 302 c) 32 d) 82 e) 22

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i thnk it shud be 23 :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I guess the most accurate answer would be 23. A digit is removed along the series and the number is listed in reverse order.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey @glgan1 check the other question http://openstudy.com/users/shirleyx#/updates/4fbf52fae4b0dd370c7724ec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha the other questions have been answered already, its just that the macrob entrance exam questions require a lot of logic and i can't find any patterns!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

really wat's the answer for that qn http://openstudy.com/users/shirleyx#/updates/4fbf52fae4b0dd370c7724ec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

vm I think i found it. if you take the middle 2 digits and multiply by each other you will get the outer 2 digits. lets say 1826. 8x2=16. so you can see that 1 is placed on the 1st digit and 6 is placed on the 4th. 2731. 7x3=21. and you will find out that 7984 is the wrong 1. <<quoted from glgan1 :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lucky last question...i hope >< What is the missing number in this series? 7 8 9 10 12 14 16 20 21 28 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what's the macrob test @shirleyx ? I think I will fail it LOL

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the entrance exam to a selective girls school yr 9-12 :) can you answer the question? ^^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

too much for 9-12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know, but its for nerds and math prodigies, haha as you can tell I'm not one of them!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow great..... http://openstudy.com/users/shirleyx#/updates/4fbf52fae4b0dd370c7724ec about that :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it 27? just look at the 1st 3rd 5th 7th numbers....their differences inccrease by 1 along the series. and for 2nd 4th 6th numbers.... their differences increase by 2 along the series.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm 19 and I can't even solve this type of question. you must be a genius.XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i m 18 :) yep she s genius :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not! I'm actually stuck on a lot of the questions! but I'm advanced for my age..doing methods and I'm a lot younger than you..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

looooooooooooool ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Work hard then. :) anyway do you understand the method for the last question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the missing number in this series? 7 8 9 10 12 14 16 20 21 28 ? << nope hahah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wait, i get it now!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 7-9 is two, then 9-12 is three, and so forth?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. then 4,5,6....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep :) awsome again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

All the best @shirleyx ....dont worry u l do just fine..... nd thanks u helped me killin my time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahaha no problem! it was actually you guys that helped me! if you ever want to kill your time, ill be here, stuck on math questions :)
