What is the range and domain of f(x)=-6/(x+3)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

domain is all real number snot -3 I think it can be less than 3 and greater than 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay so the domain is all except -3 and the range would be all real numbers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yup :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you!! =)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the denominator cant be 0 that is why x+3 not= 0 solve for x and it is -3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you so much! =)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think range is all real except 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, I will double check with another tutor just to make sure =)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is the range all real numbers except 0 and the domain all real numbers except -3? @jim_thompson5910

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because the graph hinted me to it but to make sure get your expression and set it to 0 -6/(3+x) = 0 there is no x you pic to make it 0 therefore 0 is not part of range

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you are correct swimgirly95, domain: all real numbers but x can't equal -3 range: all real numbers but y can't equal 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you very much! =)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you're welcome :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

see i told you :P
