Find the zeros of f(x) = 6x3 – 35x2 + 26x – 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know synthetic division?

OpenStudy (grant330sims):

yeah, but how can you use that to find the zeros?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

finding the zeros mean finding the x's that make your y=0. so a good way to do that is to factor that cubic equation. once it's factored the zeros are the x's that make each factor =0.

OpenStudy (grant330sims):

So you can skip all those extra steps just by doing that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what extra steps? you'll be transforming your y = 6x^3 -35x^2+26x-6 to this ---> y = (x - ??)(x - ??)(x - ??) using synthetic division.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in short, this is the method i know of to find the zeros of your function....
