A surveyor wants to know how many shoppers at a mall like to read books. He surveys 100 people coming out of a bookstore at the mall. Why is the sample biased? There are not enough people in the sample. People who shop in bookstores are likely to read more books than those who do not. It is unlikely that people who shop in bookstores are interested in surveys. The surveyor did not sample the entire population at the mall.

The last one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

take a wild guess.. why would this be BIASED sampling?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have no idea because i dont even know what biased means.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It means, like... unfair

OpenStudy (anonymous):

O

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, what he said ^^^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

He only surveyed the people coming out of the bookstore when he wanted to know how many people liked books that shopped at the MALL

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes.. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Biased is an adjective meaning unfairly prejudiced for or against someone or something.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let's be clear... what did you pick?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the last one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The last one seems to be right...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is right because he d survey the whole mall

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's the People who shop in bookstores are likely to read more books than those who do not. They are in a book store, so most likely they are interested in buying and reading books. So, the survey would only include people who probably like to read read, not the general population with a variety of people (unbiased subjects).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah that does seem right
