3 bags of gumballs. First two bags contain one yellow gumball, one blue gumball, and one red gumball. The 3rd bag contains one yellow gumball, one red gumball, and one green gumball. If you pick one gumball from each bag, how many different outcomes are there?

Ok, so the answer is 36 but I said 12...Why would they count the gumball bags as part of the equation?

Oh, I think I know what I did wrong...Simply forgot there were two bags in the first part so I did 4x3 instead of 4x3x3 D:

the bags are counted because we don't know how the balls are distributed in the first 2 bags

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's not true because it says that bags 1 & 2 EACH contain
