Evaluate 6! + 5. i really dont understand this question someone explain help!

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

Do you understand what 6! means?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no what does it mean?

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

6! means that you multiply 6 by 5! Which in turn means you multiply 5 by 4! and so on. So if you define it recursively (which is what your last question was one, you get that\[1!=1\]and \[n!=n\cdot(n-1)!\]

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

Given this, can you tell me what 2! and 3! are?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2!=2 3!=6 ?

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

Bingo. So 4! =?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12 :)

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

Not quite. What \(4\cdot 3!\)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ooh! 24!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 6!+5 = 6*5 = 30+5 = 35???

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

24 is correct. Your guess for 6!+5 is not quite there yet though. what do you get for these? 5!=? 6!=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

20 amd 30

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ooo!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait no keep explaining lol

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

you know 4!=24. Also, \(5!=5\cdot4!\) what is this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

20

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

\(5\cdot4!=5\cdot24\neq20\)

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

I'll assume you just had a typo and meant to type 120, since \(5\cdot24=120\) :) One more to go. What's \(6\cdot5!\)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OOOH! so is it going to be 5! = 5*4times 3times 2 times1 = 120 ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol yea, thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5!=20*6 = 120

OpenStudy (anonymous):

george can you give me the answer and explain it on the way the step by step thing it makes me confused if i see how you got the answer it would be more helpful <3 like explain it on the way of getting the answer so i can understand on future problems like this

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

One more try. What do you think 6! is? PS. The way you described 5! = 5times4times 3times 2 times1 = 120 is a good way to think about if you're uncomfortable with the recursive way.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay yea so then 6! = 6.5.4.3.2.1 = 720

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

Perfect!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

omg! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OKAY SO NOW WHAT???

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

Now you have 6!=720. What's 720+5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

725!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

woot woot thanks george u truely are amazing youve helped me with a lot of stuff! :) thanks so much you might see me with more questions though ahah.. but i appreciate all the time you took to help me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

really do! <3

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

You're welcome. Let me know if you need more explanation with this problem. As a side note, if you were to use this in a conversation, "6 factorial" is how you would say 6!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THANK! :)!!!
